as i begin to tackle working on my temp and fuel gauges,I was going to install an after market temp gauge. What port should i use on the manifold? Is one any better than another? I(i have the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l motor all stock with the exceptions of the weber. All the ports currently have something in them and I don't want to disconnect something i shouldn't.thanks for the help again guys.By the way,the jeep is still running great since you guys got it going for me!!!!

The factory temp sender is the rear of the head on the drivers side more less. This is the hottest spot for temps so its a good spot. IIFR the hole is to shallow for most if not all mechanical gauge sending units. Maybe a quality electric uses a smaller sender so that would do the trick. There is also a temp sender in the block that some rigs use for emissions, guess thats a possibility. The manifold....probably not the best location, but sirely others will chime in with their thoughts.

thanks again thescot! The gauge i bought as you said,is to big for that spot.So I'm still debating. And there is another spot in front of the carb, and another on the side of the manifold and I don't know what either of those are and i'm trying to find out in the manual to see if i could disconnect one of those without screwing up anything else....

Bearsden, the temp gauge is pretty simple, I would be interested in what you are going to do for the fuel gauge and what brand is going to be used.

I put mine in the side of the intake where the water jacket is , for temp. The fuel gauge is a Chevrolet gauge from O'Reillys. I just had to drill the holes for them.

I was going to try and fix the stock gauges but would also like another gauge that shows the actual temp.
