Just a little background..... My '82 is killing me. When I bought it, it had a 401 that smoked to beat hell. I had the engine replaced with the AMC 304 that is in it now. I went to Iraq twice back to back and when I got home the ole lady took off with my best friend, but she left me my Jeep. I just had the Transmission rebuilt a couple of months ago. Since then I have been having issues with it dying while driving down the road. The speedometer doesn't work anymore. The temp gauge doesn't work. Many other issues. I am slowing getting things figured out, but the temp sending unit has me stumped. I ran a wire from the back of the gauge straight to the unit and still have nothing. Any suggestion. I will post some pics later so ya'll can see the sad shape of things under the hood.

Make sure the gauge is getting power. Electric gauges need power, ground, and sender. If you have all three of those in place and it's not working I'd look at the unit being bad.
