here in SoCal we have a famous state park, Calico ghost town, it is a area famous for silver and borax mining. It sits in teh middle of a few thousand acres of BLM Land.
Anyway for the last 5 year the Mrs and myself have been doing Thanksgiving week up there inviting a few friends and wheeling, eating and adult libations.
this year once agan it proved to be a great time. I had invited George Richardson, the father of a very close friend and kinda a big guy in the local Access wars out here, currently the president of Vegas Valley Wheelers. He showed up with his signifacant other and another couple, mutual friends showed up also. so here was what happened
My wife and myself, 3 boxers in tow had gone up earlier in the week setting up camp in a remore canyon, sending out gps cords to others to follow and just veging for the early week, oh captan morgans flowed a little freely each evening after we wheeled and explored a while, so George and Sheri were to show up Wednesday. We went down to where we had cell service and found out they were not leaving vegas till evening, late evening, or well, maybe lets say late night, sheesh they showed up at 1 am and we laughed joked and got their rig level for the night till 3:30 am. I was up Thursday morning and started on my famous turkey stew. by 1 oclock it was ready and Ric and Doreen had showed up also so we had Thurkey for lunch. After that we took off for a bit of wheeling and were back in camp by dark. Rick wa deepfrying a turkey so we ate a turkey dinner with all, and do I mean all the trimings, that guy had the setup, ofcourse he had a class A rig to store it all in,*)(*&(_. After dinner we all sat up and between teh 3 rigs we had brought up close to a cord of wood. Campfires were going be huge this weekend.
Come morning we took off and went out on a marathon run while sheri started to prepare another feast. She was cooking for an Army, well I am sad to say that Rick and Doreens two poodles got into a fight and the smaller one needed emergency service quick so they packed up and set offto Barstow to find an emergency vet. After that they texted they were on the way back to Vegas.
Well so we had another Thanksgiving feast and sat up till after midnight telling tales and suddenly the wind picked up, awnings where cranked down and stones set on top of stuff so it would not blow away. Around midnight fresh carmeled apples appeared. I was in heaven. we sat up till way late again huddled deep into out coats, swapping stories and comparing BS.
Morning broke with rain so we did the fast pack and run thing pheading home a day early but with memories of 2 tahnksgiving dinnersand a smile on everyones faces, we plan on doing it again next year
