yes we are about to embark on our yearly trip to Baja to our adopted village.
This year we are, besides having over 3 grand worth of clothing for the kids donated, going to be working on a new building so they will have a Civic building, They have been able to pour a slab under the direction of one of our members with actual anchor bolts. We have had a truck load of lumber set up for delivery Tuesday and there will be a convoy of trucks loaded with compressors, generators, construction tools headed down Monday afternoon,
I will be there a week, but others will be there up to 3 as we plan on having the building framed and sided, possibly the roof on before we leave, that way it can be used till we get there the following summer to put in utillities and panel the interior walls.
Now they will have a community center.
In the past 10 years we have been donating projects, the health of the village has improved tremendously. An this last year one of the children got a scholarship for college, the first ever from this village. Simple things we take for granted over here, are luxuries elsewhere. No Jeeps or wheeling this year, we are going be just too busy

I hope you get to have another earth quake this year. I wish I had been there for the last one!!:D

Good on you. You just became a richer man.

Thats great Baja, I always say I am going to do more volunteering and rarely do it . It is a good feeling helping out others. We tend to take for granted what we have as we are always seeing others on TV etc. having more.

Did you document any of the change? Would be cool to see some pics and how it has progressed.

It's hard to comprehend that stuff, it seems like if you give low income people here govt help, they just expect it and the crappy hoods are still just that for the next generation. BTW, I am referring to habitual? poverty.
Not sure that fits, but I am not referring to people out of work due to economy etc. :chug:
