1973 CJ5, straight six and 3-speed manual. Relatively stock, for now.
Ok, so far, from what I've gleaned, there are differences between my '72 CJ5 and say, a '76, in regard to upgrading the seats. The low back seats in my new CJ5 are destroyed. And I'm a 6' tall guy. So, can anyone share a source for an adapter bracket that will allow me to use seats for '76 and up in my '72? I'd like to use something like these, for example:

Smittybilt 44901 Standard Bucket Seat Black No Drilling Installation Front | eBay

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Good luck.......

Always keep in mind that you need a seat that isn't deep in the bottom cushion and has minimum depth in the hinge area. Why? Your seat can easily become too tall and a deep hinge area prevents the seat from going as far back as you will need. If you cut out the passenger tool box and fab your own seat brackets you can get away with the style seat your looking at.

Thanks! Yeah, I'll have to fab something up, cause this ain't gonna work!

I fabed up several sets before findin what worked well, then I added a compartment under the drivers seat like the passanger tool box so yet another set was made. What I found during all these attempts was that it was easiest to use the factory '76 brackets and modify them to fit. You'll need an angle grinder with a cuttoff wheel and a welder.

Cool! That is probably what I'll do then. Thanks again- Steve
