well i got the winch finally, and the original warn mounting plate. i'm going to start rebuilding it tommorrow, i've been looking for parts for the dang thing and i can't seem to find em anywhere its like warn just done away with all of the info on their website. i couldn't even find the case seals online.

I called a local motor shop today and they said they could rebuild it, but i don't know where they'll get parts. i of course would like to find a set of brushes to put in it and see if that doesn't fix it before i pay someone else to do what i can do.
what do yall think about this NEW 12V Winch Motor for WARN Keyed Shaft HEAVY DUTY 8274 LPL0015: LPL0015 / AMT0404 - KEYWAY OPN FCE MTR DB Electrical Starter-Alternator

oh and i got the winch for $000,000, just gotta help my little brother put a sbc in a s-10. probably shoulda just gave him $AMC 150 for it but i woulda helped him anyway.

i think i'm going to clean all of the connections first (as previously mentioned), then bolt it to the jeep and see if that fixed the problem.

i just don't know if it'll be a cheap <-BAD WORD-> imitation of a good motor thats gonna leave me stranded. i'll find out tommorow if i'm even gonna need it, imma try cleanin it up first. i'd like to have the motor from the new model but there ain't no way i can swing $300 right now

Hard to say, but all the feed back sound good.
Check this out. I know it's cost prohibitive but I can dream.

Pricey, but wow!

Gigglepin GP83 Winch
Order no.: GP83*

The GP83 is designed to provide ultimate performance, speed & power where it matters as well as offering bombproof reliability in the worlds toughest winch challenge competitions. The free spool system is air operated, we recommend using an ARB compressor as used with the ARB air lockers. The free spool disconnects the drum directly from the gearbox, which greatly reduces resistance for un-spooling cable allowing for fast & effective rigging. The gearbox meshes with the drum via 4 large dogteeth for an instant re-engagement. The winch drum is 76mm longer than a standard 8274 drum & features 6mm side plates & 10mm thickness 64mm diameter drum tube along with our innovative yet simple cable securing system. The winch features bumper 12 mounting points & 5 top housing mounting points.

The 8274 is the be all end all winch. AMC 150 ' of cable fast too!

according to the web site they have no American distributer.

well i found out what was wrong with the motor on this thing. i pulled it apart and everything inside was covered in rust, its a miracle it even ran at all. the brushes are spring loaded they where in good shape but rusted solid so they wouldn't move against the armature, the armature itself where it makes contact with the magnet that surround it was solid rust. i cleaned it all up and got it moving freely i haven't tried it out yet but i hope it works. if not i'll go ahead and buy a new motor
