1990 XJ 5" junk yard lift on 31's for now.

1980's CJ basket case.
I finally got my cj dropped off and collected the other frame and tub, 4" lift springs from skyjacker, new break lines, seats and frames, a yj roll bar, a spare dana90 with a T-18 Transmission to sell.
So sunday we got the axles removed and placed on the new frame along with the steering box. On monday I got the frame painted and the motor in the frame.

You had your motor mocked up in the rear :) We like pictures, It's looking good dude!

Yea there was no cross memeber on the rear. We ripped it off while moving the jeep into that location. We were beating on the bolts for the springs so hard that the rust that made the frame look intact fell onto the ground in one long line from front to back on both sides of the frame.

been a little while now with a lot of work being done. got the Transmission in and the crossmember mounted. put the front grill on with a new bushing. removed all the old brake lines. I got the other tub stripped and accessed the rust damage. There was alot on the rockers and around the tail gate, and the front floor support on the driver side was completely rusted out. Got the body set on the frame so we could move it around to work on it. I picked up a pair of DJ front fenders that were in great shape. Since they are shorter than the cj I am going to cut the back sections of both fenders and seam the the dj rear to the cj fronts to regain the length needed. I am going to also make willies style flat fenders at the same time.
So here are some pics of what has been going on.

I tried to take pics of each step. I cut the top where the window frame rests of on the cj to get the two ports where the defroster goes. After cutting the center portion out i noticed that i had cut it too short. so i cut both side back to the hinges. I then welded it back together. I put tape on the top found center and measured the distance to make the cuts. I did the same thing to the cj, trimed and mounted to the yj and welded it back in.

I also tried to get the time line of the pics correct.

You've been busy.

Looking good. I like your old frame.

It only took a mid size hammer to break the frame apart. there is more rust than steel.
had a few mins in the shop. Here is a pic.

WOW if thats not a ground up build I don't know what is!! Looks like you've done alot of hard work!!!:D:chug:

Wow what a busy year. I didn't get much work done over the summer and fall of last year. It was more of collecting and working. I got back to work on the jeep this late winter. I picked up a Dana 300 Transfer Case last summer to complete my drive train. I tore it down, cleaned and made it a twin stick, installed new seals and gaskets and a fresh coat of paint. I had gotten a dana 18 that was in rough shape so I scraped it but kept the sticks. I am going to use them for the 300. I did a short video on the Transfer Case .

I had to get some body mount pieces from Classic Enterprise. there parts are beefy. I had to replace the rear body mount and the front toe support.

sorry I didnt get a few pics of the panel removal. I had a little problem when i was re installing the corners. I put the gate on and while mocking up the corners I couldn't figure out why the corners were 1.5" inches lower than the tail gate. after a few thrown tools and cuss words. Dad and I worked it out that the corner were sagged. so after jacking and a couple straps we got it back into shape. I should have welded some bracing before cutting. woops.

Nice work. I'm only about 15 minutes down the road from you, so if you ever get in a bind and need a hand... :chug:

thanks Scooter. The only problem I am having at the moment is finding a used windshield for a cj that has the defrost holes. I had a cj that was in bad shape so I measured and cut out the piece for the defrost and the size and location of the holes by the window. I had a yj that i was going to patch in but it was in too rough of shape.

Here is some pics from today. I did weld the passenger side in but did not get a pic.
