Hey folks,
I'm thinking about purchasing a newer model wrangler. I'm used to the older models (10+ years old), but I've been thinking about getting something basically brand new. What has been your experience with newer models? are they still reliable? etc.

I can't comment on the reliability factor, but having something brand new would be nice. But that $ 40 to 65 thousand cost is pretty scary to me.

if you go brand new the JL isn't to bad but i hated the JK (07-19) especially those with the 3.8 (07-12) im sure im going to hear from ppl about how great they are but from my experience they are not.

I think your best bet is to do a custom order from a trusted Jeep dealership.

Did you end up buying a new Wrangler? I don't get a new vehicle since I enjoy upgrading my ride. I feel like it is unnecessary to get a new one if my current ride is still running fine.

Bought a new Ram pickup in 2015, straight off the dealer lot. Not a Jeep, but same parent company. Never even got home before a mechanical issue with the steering had me turning around and back to the dealership. Tried to return it, no go. Put in the shop. First two weeks I owned it, stay in their shop and never came home. Finally got to take possession of it, back in the shop 15 times first two years. Dealer shop's service manager told me to stop brining it back stating "there is nothing more we can do". Contacted corporate RamCare group and they denied the warranty stating that I had voided it by by parking the vehicle outdoors. Yep, you read that right. Parking outside voided the warranty. Tried Texas "lemon law", also a no go due to the loss I would have incurred. Wouldn't buy another vehicle of any brand made/supported by FIAT (included a new Jeep). Love my old CJ but no new ones for me. $50K is a lot of scratch to spend with a company that proved to me they build :dung: and refuse to stand behind what they build.

Late to the party but my sentiments from our 2012 JKRU exactly. It is the first vehicle I have ever tagged with a name: POS. Yes the 3.8 is truly a dog but the 3.6 isn't that much better. Still way short on needed power and more important, virtually no usable bottom end torque below 1500-2000 RPM. 76:1 CR notwithstanding, the NSG370 with the 3.6 sucks off road with the stock 4.10 gears. You need to regrear to 4.88's or 5.13's but then your already abysmal mileage is even less. Add to that the tinfoil axle brackets, front axle tube diameter the same as a 46 Willys, and in my case, unending wire harness problems that began on the trip home from the dealer (bought new), there is no way I want another new Jeep. In fact, the JK has soured me enough on "Jeep" brand that I totally eliminated that word from my CJ 3B project. Even made a new horn button.
