 Finally got the new engine installed, serviced and running. While servicing the chassis, I found this: the axle sop on the driver's side has turned 1/4 turn to the rear. There is an aluminum plate on both sides of the front axle, between the bottom of the spring and the front plate. Both these plates are shot. I'm assuming nthe PO didn't check the u bolts after the 4" suspension lift was installed and the YJ driven. My question is what are these aluminum plates and where can I get replacements? Don't see anything like it in the Quadratec suspension replacement parts.
Thanks

Looks like whats left of some degree shims. Good example of why you should NOT use them in the front axle. Take them out and put it back together without them.

I wouldn't be so hasty to trash the shims. Somebody put them in there for a reason. 4 to 7 degrees of caster is a big change. .

Better check out the caster. :)

CD, to accurately know what shims (if any) are required you need to either have an alignment shop check you caster (without the shims in place) or check it your self.

Almost every lift kit I have ever seen used shims for the rear axle, not the front.

If you do need shims, the best I have found are the steel ones sold by 4Crawler Offroad-->> 4Crawler Offroad Products - Custom Leaf Spring Shims
