In OK. Wow!! Snow is coming in sideways at 40mph and have gotten about 8in. of accumulation! Without the wind would probably be around 12in!!!
northern ohio, nothing but rain. thats not right for here.

I guess by Montana or Vermont standards the 20’s are warm but for us it’s colder than a witches brass monkey on a well digger!
Bonus points if you can tell me what a brass monkey is, with out google.
And where does "Cold enough to freeze the balls of a brass monkey" come from?

A "Brass Monkey" is a cleat for lack of a better term, that holds cannon ball on the deck of an old sailing ship of the line. When It gets real cold the difference in expantion- contraction rates in the metals will pop the balls off the the "Brass Monkey".

A brass monkey is a brass plate with a pattern of dimples to hold the first layer of a pyramid of cannon balls. As it gets colder the dimples grow shallower and eventually loose grip of the cannon balls.
Horn is right, it's just the dimple thing most people don't know or can't understand.
My Grandfather told me this when I was quite young but he had lied to me about so many other things I didn't believe it until I read it some place while in collage.

You know it is kinda funny I live in Alaska and it is 40degrees and raining on Christmas eve did get snow 2 days ago. Had about 2inc but it is all gone now. I Hope that all of you that got blasted are all safe.

Was 10* when i came into work this morning.
I guess the drive out the other day in the truck got all the suspension parts wet, then froze. This morning the truck popped and snapped as I got in and was backing out. I was like WTF was that?!?!

Crazy <-BAD WORD-> weather here. A foot of snow and cold, then a heat wave and rain, all the snow is completely gone, 2 warm days, now the wind chill is -5 today.....??? I have some outside work this week, should be pretty exciting.

It's been snow flurries here for 2 days now, and cold. I read 16* now, and last night, here on the river, my little weather thingie read 12* with a -6 wind chill. .......yuck.
