My first request for help, and man do I need it! My '84 CJ7 w/TF999 needs some help. I am trying to get the throttle valve linkage (rod) from the Carter BBD to the Transmission adjusted right. After looking and reading a lot of you guys blogs, it appears that I need some sort of spring at each or either end of the linkage. I have none now and am afraid to drive it much without trying to get it adjusted right. Any help with this and pics if you have them would be greatly appreciated.

when i got my jeep i didnt have any linkage at all. i didnt even have an arm on the Transmission for the linkage to attach to. i bought a cable kit from lokar transmissions. it only came with a spring to attach to the carb. i dont think that you would need a spring on the Transmission , as the linkage should go back to the original position when the carb is in idle position. you can check this with the jeep not running, but you will need a second set of hands

Thanks Jamie for the info. I have read alot about the Lokar hookup and still may go to it, but I seem to be hung up in this "back to original as much as possible" mode. I will continue to hope that there is that part I need right around the corner.
