I have a tick sometimes in the motor AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l inline 6, I think its a liffter but not sure will running a thicker oil do the trick or do I need to replace the lifter. Any ideas. Thanks
Do you run a header? Could be an exhaust leak too possibly... But more often a lifter especially if you know what you're listening too.
I used to try the really thick oil, almost honey thickness. One quart and it would patch it for a while, but just a quick fix.,. Unless u r lucky and just got temp clog i wouldnt think it would permanently fix since thicker oil may not get to the rest of the places it should...
If it is a lifter basically, u probably will need to replace it sooner or later...
