I have a 1974 CJ5 - There's a rod that connects to my steering pit-man arm with a tube/sleeve..... and at the other side of it connects to something like a ball joint. The rod is somewhere around 24" long, is threaded at one end that screws into the tube/sleeve, and the other end has the ball joint. I'm trying to find a replacement part but I'm confused on the name of the part - is it a "Tie Rod" or Drag Link" I can't seem to find the difference, or one that will work. Can anybody tell me what the name of the part I'm looking for? It's broke in half and I can't steer at all.
Thanks

Thanks so much for the speedy reply, I only wish I would of found this site before wasting over an hour goggling for the part name.:D

Glad to have you here.

A easy way to remember which is which is that the 'tie' rod 'ties' the two knuckles together and the 'drag' link 'drags' the knuckle to the side when you turn the gear box.

Well I think we've been here before:rolleyes:, but Jeep calls the rod between the pitman arm and the knuckle the connecting rod.
Drag link is used often though and may or may not be correct.
My thought of a drag link is what is used on early CJ's that ties the steering gears arm to the bellcrank.
