Thought I would share with you all a little adventure I am about to embark on. My nephew serves on the USS America the Navy's newest big deck amphibious war ship and I get to go aboard today and sail back to San Diego with him on what is called a Tiger Cruise. A couple hundred civilian family members get to spend 4 days aboard and I am honored that he choose me to go with him.
We were able to attend the commissioning of the new ship this weekend and got a tour but the cruise should be even more amazing. My nephew is now a Plank Owner, you Navy vets will understand that, as well as a Shellback having crossed the equator on his way to home port in San Diego.
The ceremony itself was fabulous, lots of dignitaries including the Secretary of the Navy, fly by's of the Osprey.
