New to all of this, so thanks in advance for the help. I am trying to replace the timing chain on my AMC304 (too much slack causing a timing issue). How the heck do you remove the gear/sprocket from the crankshaft? I see that the camshaft one is bolted on. Do I need some sort of puller?

Thanks!

I used a screwdriver behind it to pry it forward, then when it got too far out to pry with that I think I used a crow bar. There may be a puller of sorts but if you are careful you can get it to pop off.

Thanks. It came off easier than I thought. I did end up renting a simple puller so it would come straight off. Finished replacing the chain/sprockets last night. Now I just have to put the alternator/power steering pump/etc back on and set the timing....fingers crossed

Yea, I saw the post was a few days old and figured you had it by now, but its one of the few things I have done and can at least offer a little help.. lol
