What's a good brand to buy these days.Say 50-75 bucks on the timing light and 50 on the Dwell-Tach meter.I haven't had a timing light in years but acquired a 74 CHEV truck to rebuild so need a dwell meter now.:)
Thanx Mike

Can be had at autozone or sears or amazon:

I bought a nice timing light from napa.

Mine are both from sears, they are older than your jeep and still working.
Not sure about the quality of sears now though.

It has been years since I bought a dewell meter, Mine is a Sunn, I do not even know if they are around anymore, bought them 20 plus years ago. I wpould check out swap meets, could find a deal on a old professional model there.

I was amazed at what these things cost these days!! I say go as in expensive as you can, you will use it about 6 times in this life time. The first thing to do to the truck is upgrade the ignition to something made in this millennium. Nuclear war aside, points suck.

I was thinking Sears but I'm with you who makes them. A swapmeet might produce a oldie but goodie. We have a few around here,I'll go this weekend. Like IO says I need to get rid of the points.
I still have my dwell adjusting tool thou.Could sell it as a antique.I'll also check Napa,I think the ones I gave away years ago came from K-Mart probably still work.
Remember when JC Pennys sold tools.I still have a complete tool set by
Penncraft.
Thanx for the advice guys.

I have an old Sears model that always served me well... when I had points. My take is; for the price of a decent Dwell Meter you could probably go Pertronix and forget about it.

My ancient Actron is still working - it was cheap back then, so I figure I owe IT something at this point. :)

I use an old Craftsman Dial Advance I've owned maybe 20 years.
