Hi all, new to the site but have been reading for awhile.
I have been thinking of putting TJ coil suspension in my86 CJ7 .
I am aware of having to make all the links and such, has anyone on here done this? And if so I am looking for pictures of the coil bucket mounts.

Hey Toy, never seen a conversion but know they have been done. I have to say that you probably won't find many replies here as we strive to keep our CJ's stock (or at least semi stock)...

The only time I have seen this done is with a new after-market frame. With enough time, planning, and money, anything is possible.

Well, it will be stock jeep coils.
I can understand the trying to keep it stock, but I drive alot in the mountains. I really am looking for a better ride more than anything, I plan on driving my new jeep alot. The beating of the stock suspension just isnt goin to cut it for me.

Why kind of springs do you have on it now? Some of the aftermarket suspension companies offer a much better ride than what was offered stock. OME and Skyjacker come to mind.

I think it is stock springs with a shackle reversal and a shackle lift.

with stock springs, a shackle reversal and a shackle lift I can understand why you want to swap out the suspension. your ride must suck with that set up.
Now if you already have a TJ suspension and are handy with a welder, go for it, but you are talkin about a huge project, all the towers will need to be made as well as brackets, special track bars will have to be made, and you may have to move stuff to get some of the parts to work properly, it would be easier to get a TJ and swap the body.
Brackets will be repetitively easy and researching the brackets on a TJ makes more sense than looking at home fabbed mounts as you should just buy new TJ stuff and weld it where needed. remember a lot of that stuff is already engineered and can be welded to your frame. there are a lot of aftermarket businesses making HD replacement parts for the TJ.
Good Luck

Thanks man, I am pretty handy with a welder and some fab.
was kind of hoping to look at some that have done this already, but it doesnt seem so common.

One of the after market frames comes already set up to run stock tj coils arms etc

Personally for the same amount of fab effort I would go coil overs and fab my own link set up instead of retro fitting tj stuff

Plenty of the fab shops sell some good parts to help reduce fab time if you want

This is actually a very old method and quit common over going to link. Other sites like Pirate4x4 will have more Jeep owners with spring overs than not. I have seen allot of build over their with very good pictures of the spring over conversion.

I have looked alot on Pirate, but im just not seeing what i want.
I think stock TJ sus would be a good upgrade.
