So I have had my jeep for 1 year now almost to the day! So my dad and i decide to take it 2 hours away from home trout fishing. Now remember this jeep has 74,000 miles on it and nothing has hapened to it ever period! So what happens? We go fishing, on the way back we hear a click noise. We think no big deal its probably just a belt and we can replace it when we get home. So we drive on back and we are now about 1 hours and 30 mins from home. The click starts to turn into a POP! So then we pull over and the pop gets louder and louder. So now we decide we need to go on as farr as we can and get back to familiar territory. The noise gets so loud that its rediculous! This thing has got a AMC 304 in it and we can't even pull this hill in 2nd gear! BANG BANG BANG BANG!!!! We blew a valve or something! So now here I am at home and my baby is 90 miles away from my garage sitting in parking lot in a place i have never been. I want to cry!!! And i don't even know whats wrong with it!!!!!

That sucks. Hopefully you can get it home and maybe it will be something simple.

Good luck

relax, take a deep breath and call a wrecker. First order of business is to get it home!

Sorry to hear that. Dang!
I hope it's just minor.

Being my 1st. summer with a CJ7 , with big plans to scout every nook,& cranny within 200 miles of home, mostly off the beaten path.
I wonder when, not if i will have trouble.
Somethings just can't be prepared for well enough to avoid misery.
Just part of living with a Jeep,& worth every penny.
Too bad i don't have enough pennies to buy a satellite phone,or pay a tow truck to follow me with plenty of ice cold beer.

thats part of owning a jeep. mine sits more than it is driven. once i fix something, something else breaks. but i love working on it and that is what keeps me going on it. once everything breaks i will basically have a new jeep lol.

Im with dalefan i have a 79 CJ7 that now has a 401 in it that is my daily driver (when its running that is ) and i live 68 miles from work so trust me working all weakend to keep it going to work all weak is kind of a fun challenge lol but all you can do is get her home figure it out and go like he** again till something else breaks lol

Man, sounds like an opportunity for an upgrade.

Just stand back and throw your billfold at it! It's still your Jeep.

well if it was any other make of vehicle you would have been stranded at the lake.

But it will be alright it should be something simple lets all hope

All your fellow jeepers are here for u:chug:

you might know all this and i might be totally wrong but the first thing i would do is see if there was oil in it haha if not you can guess what happened. if it looks normal i would pull the spark plugs and see if one is drenched with oil or beat up you might have dropped a valve or broke a piston and this would cause a lot of click tap bag noises and loss of compression which causes loss of power. also a lot of smoke. you might could come out with a small weird problem, who knows. i knew a guy that had horrible rattling noises coming from under the hood and finally figured out that he left a pair of pliers under the hood of his ole truck and they were rattling around haha.

worst case scenario you got a great excuse for some upgrades :chug: like GoldenEagle36 said we are here for ya.

get it home and start checking it out and let us know what you find. i have blown a few motors before haha.. whatever happened it could be worse.. you could have had it happen in an import... imports are expensive haha
