Topless yes, but rollbar-less???

Topless yes, but rollbar-less???
I like the frame mounts in your link , Dog. It looks like it is just a spring bushing.
That is very do able in the front, the back may take a bit more work but still do able.
thanks:cool:

I think I would check that out. It could make removing the tub a real challenge.

Well to explain it a little more in depth where my roll bar goes in on top of the wheel well there is a plate with i wanna say 4-6 bolts and i had sent 2lost pictures of it before, but i think if i remove the plates it opens up to probably a 12 inch by 6 inch hole on the wheel wells so it can get around the bar, yet again i am not 100% on this

roll one time you'll never go with out a roll bar again they have saved many lives in many roll overs:oops:

theres a guy that comes into my work with a 76 CJ5 that is done up like a army jeep with no bar. i guess for the look he wanted thats good for him. me on the other hand, im keeping my bar and one day it will have a cage welded to the frame.

Where I live it is actually illegal to not have a roll bar. We had ours out and a cop told us it was illegal.

Alright, here's the situation. I decided to repair the extremely rusted body instead of replacing, but I am considering going without a roll bar/cage. I saw another CJ driving around town recently without the bar and it looked pretty tough. Obviously, I would be very Limited on the level climbing it could handle, but the rig was bought originally for trail riding. My suspension is pretty soft and I'm not really worried about flipping. I guess I'm just looking for the opinions of my friends at Jeep-CJ.com.

Do we have any other members or guests that have a barless CJ? I'd like to hear other opinions and see some pics, since this is just an idea right now. The bar has been removed for now.....:chug:

In my opinion, the CJ roll bar is part of what makes a CJ a CJ. Also, "since this is just an idea right now.", I'd keep it just that. Jeep put the roll bar on their vehicles for a reason - safety. If you attempt to trail ride without one and the Jeep rolls..... My 2 pennies

I run a roll bar and highly recommend it.
Wifes jeep vs. semi, most of the impact was taken on the roll bar.

Thanks for the input everyone. My decision has been made and a new bar was installed. :). I actually reinforced the body above the tires with 1/8" steel panels, which are molded to cover the original wheel housing, to accommodate the new bar. Now, if I roll her, at least I will live! Happy jeepin' all! :chug:
