floor plate
Does anybody have or no of anywhere that would have a floor plate to go around shifters in floor for a 1973 CJ5 . It has the raised front lip and the pan itself is not flat, it is raised as well in the middle.

I have found a Transmission panel on 4wheeldriveparts made by omix-ada says for a 55-71 model CJ5 & CJ6 . Does anyone know if this will work for a 73 CJ5 ? Also i found 76 & up panels but there made different. The one made for 55-71 looks real similar to what i need. Didn't know if there was any differences for the models between 71 and 73? thanks

I believe that is a specific era--72-76. I've got a 73 myself so I know what part you are talking about. If mine weren't rusted all to hell Id send it to you since I have to do a custom one anyways.

this sounds like one of the few things I would do with fiberglass or carbon fiber. Especially if I had one to make a fair decent plug for a mold. clean it, duct tape the holes, wax it and cover it with plaster of Paris, pull the original out and It's a one shot mold. paint it with resin a couple times and spread some cloth and mat in it and soak it down pretty good. Mold in some flat bar edge reinforcement and break the plaster off. A little sanding and some new holes, a rattle can or two and it looks like it belongs there.:D

Actually that is kind of the plan for when the T-18 gets installed. I don't think the holes and boots for the T-150 are going to work.

thinking about it I think Bondo would work better than plaster.

Thats a good idea but damn I am soooo bad at making bondo come out nice.

I tried to make one already with decent success. May try again or try to touch this one up. I was just seeing if I could find a factory panel.

Unfortunately when I got the jeep it was missing the original panel or I would definitely try that. It is an awesome idea.

I think I have one. I will check tomorrow afternoon and let you know. I cut the floorboard out of a 73 CJ5 a couple of years ago to replace the transtunnel in my race Jeep and I never did use it.

thread jack alert!!

Dave,

What are you running for rear suspension?

I've got about 500HP and just cant hook up. I'm running 33X12.5 BFGs so I know slicks would really help but I run around on the street everyday and the cops are a problem.

I've got a 4" lift; considering getting some custom rear springs made so it'll sit down a little more. I already built traction bars which helped a little.

Google J&W Auto Wreckers

The one in mine was so badly butchered that I tried to find a new or used one also…..never did.
So I fixed it.
I considered scratch building the entire thing but decided to save the bottom part …. after a lot of patching.
It still needs a bit more help .... just slaped it back in for the weekend.

Yeah just let me know davezilla. Would definitely be nice if u have one. I wrote j&w auto wreckers a message as well. Hopefully they call me back soon. Thanks for the info guys.

Here is a photo of the tunnel I cut out of a Jeep a few years back. Suppose to be 73 CJ5 , although when I looked at some old photos of my race Jeep the tunnel looked slightly different. Let me know if you think it will work for you.
David

The one Dave posted doesn't match my 73' either.

Gotta love Jeeps. Every one is one of a kind!

Is this what you are looking for? This is a junk one I had in my back yard (Dana 20 shifter opening was cut up), but I have one that is untouched in my garage. I can make a template if needed.

I actually need the piece to go on top of that where the raw metal is showing. The piece is raised up and curves up the front of the floor.

Yeah; in your pics on the 4th page 4th pic from the end. The piece that would cover the hole.-

Where the red (terribly drawn arrow) is pointing or the orange plate I added?
