:confused:
I was pulling the Transmission from the Transfer Case to replace the gaskets and while pulling it apart these bearings fell out and im not sure where they go exactly. If you look at The Haynes Manual diagram it looks like the bearings go at the end of all the gearswhere i circled in red. Is this an easy fix to put them back in or do i need a professional to do this? Also do i need to set the sprocket in a certian position??? I dont know anything about transmissions so anything will help. Does this Transmission look in good condition?

Thanks in advance!:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

Yep they go inside there. I only have experience with a T-15 , but I'm sure they are the same at least in this. Those bearings go inside the input shaft to separate it from the Transmission main shaft. You are going to need to pull the input shaft and yes there is a dished area in the gear you see just inside the Transmission . case. Turn the shaft to allow the shaft gear to clear the idler shaft gear. Then pull it clear. Clean the inside of the input shaft (make sure you have the right number of bearings.). Coat it with grease and stack the bearings in the grease. Carefully and I mean carefully reinsert the shaft in the Transmission . making sure the bearings don't fall. Don't be surprised to do it several times before you get it right. Good luck.

This picture shows the tail end of the mainshaft with the bearings that fell out of yours inserted. DSCF0865.webp

Use Vaseline to hold the bearings in. The Vaseline will mix with the gear oil and not be a problem.

How much grease can i put in there? i hope i have a steady hand! Thanks again!

Put in enough to hold the bearings in place. Put in to much and the grease will force the bearings out before the shaft is seated. The picture posted by Stodg73 shows it very well.

are there 15 roller bearings? because i can only find 13 in mine. i just want to make sure i have the correct amount before i starting putting them on.

I can't confirm or deny the number. Bearings can hide down in the bottom. If you haven't done it, take the drain plug out and look in there. A magnet on a stick can help here. MAke absolutely sure you have all your bearings. When all the bearings are in place there should be some space, but not a lot. Less than the size of another bearing, maybe ~1/2 a bearing diameter.

So i got the tanny fixed today and i cleaned all the surfaces and attempted to put the tranny back on the Transfer Case but i failed. In the process i almost pulled the gears back out and was back to step 1. Is there a special way to get the gears to match up with the Transfer Case ? Do i have to spin the tranny until the gears fit?

Sorry for your set-back. You should probably have a partner to help you with this. With the throw-out bearing, ahh holder (the name escapes me right now), in place you shouildn't have enough movement in the gears to loose the roller bearings, maybe not though. You could, carefully, wrap wire around your gear cluster and a bolt to hold everything in place and turn the Transfer Case shaft until everything meshes up properly. With my T-15 to D-18 I did just that and everything went right together.
