Hey guys just trying to remove my speedometer cable from the tranny any advice. Never done this before here is a pic of what I'm working with. Oh and I have done a search. Just came up with problems with the speedometer.View attachment 18992
 
First-That's your Transfer Case --;)
It should just slip out of the drive gear in your t'case.
It's a square drive and you may need to get some needle nose pliers to wiggle/pull in the cable.

They can be a bit finicky especially when putting them back together. You might want to add some speedo lubricant to that cable also.

Broken in the middle of the 'tube' to the speed-O?:confused:
Not uncommon. When you get the new cable. Coat it with a graphite based grease.

Been a lot of work put into this thing from the PO all he used it for was a beach jeep so I guess he never worried about the speedo not working. Not to mention his "surface rust" went a little deeper than he thought. Like straight thru. So ad many others here I got my work cut out for me :)
