Hello all,
It's been quite a while. Here in the near future I plan on removing my tub, painting the frame and tub, then rewiring the entire Jeep. While the tub/frame will be pretty straight forward, I had a question about the wiring.

Should I go with a Painless Harness, or just fully wire the Jeep myself? I have a 1 wire HEI setup. Last I read you can call painless and tell them what all you plan to have wired, and they will sell you the best kit. On the other hand, I feel that I can make my own harness for a lot cheaper. A Jeep isn't rocket surgery (especially a CJ). If I were to go my own harness route, any suggest any universal fuse blocks? I was thinking something like SEAL-ALL MINI FUSE & MICRO RELAY PANELS from Aircraft Spruce .
I would then replace the bulkhead connector with cannon plugs for each system.

I plan to use this time to take several pictures if not YouTube videos of the process. Hopefully it can be of any use to the next guy.

I would first suggest just repairing what needs to be fixed. Just repairing what the p.o. botched up. As for the plugs, many are just there for the original assembly purpose, sometimews they just make the circut weaker and can be eliminated. There are a few good wiring diagrams out there also, so get one of those.

I have already redone the abortion th PO left me. Too many splices now and it's just not what I am used to. Rewiring the whole thing is easy enough. Also make my own terminals and plugs. [emoji4]

Painless is good but kinda expensive. I re- made my harness with all new wire and connectors OEM style got all the parts from Waytek. New fuse blocks and relays 1 wire HEI and Holley fuel injection wiring. Not much left of the stock wiring diagram anyway.

Lots of work but now it's exactly the way you want it. Draw a schematic right away for future reference. Or you might forget :D
