It was a really sad day that day. A little girl getting killed, I have two girls about the same age and I can feel for the father on that one.
The thing that surprised me is that more people there didnt have guns on them. I lived in Arizona for 2 years and I would say 1 out of three people carried a gun and they were out where they could be seen.

Here in Alaska you dont need the ccp as long as you tell the officers that you have a gun when you are pulled over. Dont know if that is all over Alaska but in my area that is all you need.

I carry a 8 shot 357 with me most of the time, I like the extra two rounds.

One of the laws they passed last year was you didn't have to have a permit to conceal a weapon.Hence the shooter had his hid.Most people won't openly display a weapon on them in stores,public gatherings,etc for fear of being watched or have it taken away till the event is over.I think a lot of people here if they had a weapon left it in the car,house,etc till the event was over.I liked the idea of being able to conceal without a permit but on the other hand this is what happens when you can.
The government knew this guy was mentally disturbed because he couldn't get in the armed forces.They didn't file any papers on him federally because it slipped thru the cracks.Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to purchase the gun.
What makes me wonder is there were US Marshalls there protecting the Judge that got killed.How did this guy get off all those rounds without getting killed himself.Haven't heard much on those topics yet.
What it boils down to is most people aren't going to carry a gun into Safeway or a public event.If there would have been a lot of guns there,I'm afraid a lot more people would have been hurt in random gunfire.

Gun laws only keep honest people honest!

Plus they stopped his <-BAD WORD-> for running a red light before the shooting. Plus he like most criminals would just buy outside the normal market.

Assholes are gonna be assholes we as a people just need to start treating criminals as such. Less tv and weights and more chain gang, weed slinging work their <-BAD WORD-> from sun up to sun down. Make prison a place no one wants to go. After all you can't be Billy badass if your worked to the bone and to tired to move!

The thing is, he was not a criminal. There was no law preventing him from purchasing a firearm. Mental instability is not a deniable offense unless he has committed a crime under it's guise.
