Maybe it's just me but I'm thinking you're going to need that coolant tank. I found one a few years back and it worked.

Quadratec has a Crown for $20.

Get a tank! Coolant, is a KILLER to all animals.

Yup! Especially when you have a lot of that stuff as it expands and contracts with the temperature change. That way it will suck back in as it cools down. this allows you to have more coolant in the radiator. Since it is made from a cheap plastic it will crack and leak in time. I have had to replace them a few times.

I try to limit my Crown use, but sometimes that is all there is. Mine split and I repaired a couple of time but finally I had to go for it. You may even have to go with a different return size line. I like scotch over canadian

I'll stick with Whiskey. :wasted:
Really like Bulleit. :D
Buffalo Trace is very good too. :chug:

Pretty sure this is the hose I used on mine. Just cut off the "U" shaped end.

Gates part number 18763.

Installed the Napa version of this hose... worked great.

The water pump nipple is 3/4" OD and the hose is 7/8" ID. I was afraid it was going to buckle when clampled, but it snugged up nice and smooth. I think it will work fine. The intake manifold nipple is 5/8" OD and after cutting the "U" shape off the remaining hose ID was 5/8". So... problem solved.

Thanks for providing the info!!!

My jeep never had a coolant reservoir bottle. Adam said it didn't have one and there are no mounting holes in the driver side fender next to the wiper fluid reservoir.

Was there a coolant reservoir bottle ever mounted somewhere else???

A bit of a poser.

I discussed the play in the steering stabilizer bracket with Adam and got a chance to look at one of his Jeeps. He said it is probably some rust on the U bolts that is causing the torque wrench to click off at 55 ft lbs. He said just keep going until it sucks up. So I'll give that a try next.

Russell's Reserve... just sayin'...

I am pretty sure your CJ came with a coolant tank. It was mounted on the left side fenderwell over the ignition control module. A repair manual should indicate this.

That is what I'm saying. It wasn't mounted next to the wiper fluid reservoir because there are no mounting holes in the fender. There are for the wiper reservoir, the ignition, the jack mount, the horn, etc.

I can easily drill the holes; but there are none now.

The coolant recovery tank was an EPA reg for all cars etc.
The mounting holes tie in with the windshield washer bottle.
IF your fender is the OEM fender-The mounting holes are there.

Nope...

It is OEM fender... no doubt on this.

After market chinee fender :). They don't need a coolant bottle either over there. Makes it easier to catch the cats and dogs to eat! 😫

Well-FWIW, I have never seen a OEM fender from that era that wasn't drilled for the tank.
AMC has done stranger things-:D
