Hey All,

I am back with more questions. The PO disabled the emission system. It still looks like some of the EGR system is being used, can I remove and cap the rest of the stuff? Also can someone take a look at the PCV setup, I think that it is not setup correctly. I have a vacuum leak somewhere and I am going to try to eliminate as much vacuum lines as possible.

Thanks,
Gus

Your PCV/CCV system is not set up correctly. The PCV (rear port) needs a single line going to the manifold like the picture indicates, but the CCV (front port) needs a single line going to a clean air source such as the air filter box. The CCV and PCV should not be connected to each other, that defeats the purpose of the PCV system

Everything else looks fine. You can pull the EGR stuff and cap it if you want, I ran my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l for years without all of that garbage

The advance hose should go to a ported hook-up on the carb, not to a full vacuum port.

So I am going to admit, I have never messed with carbs, but I am really good with following directions...:D Here are some pictures, and correct me if I am wrong but I see no other ports to plug vacuum hoses up to unless those brass nuts are plugged hose ports. I am talking about the third picture at the 9:00 position.

Thanks,
Gus

No...those brass fittings aren't plugging any ports. I have to say... I think your vacuum advance is plugged in correctly

I put a vacuum gauge on that port that the tubing is hooked up to. It was reading 2 and when I revved the engine it went up according to the RPMs. I changed the the PCV and CCV setup. Now the PCV runs to the carb, and the CCV I just opted to put a breather in it's place. My vacuum dropped from 12 to 5 now with the gauge being inline with the PCV valve. I found a leak at the bottom of the carb plates, where can I get replacement gaskets or can I just cut some gasket sheets or can I use gasket maker?

Thanks,

Gus

Weber/Redline will have the correct gasket, or you can go someplace like Napa and they can match one up for you. I generally use a very thin layer of RTV between the surfaces...gotta be careful though, you dont want to foul up vacuum ports or passages....so use as little as possible to get a light film.
