Hey everybody,
I was thinking about buying my neighbors CJ5 , but I need to know how much it's worth so I can make an offer. It is a '72 with 80K miles. It has the AMC 304 and I believe that '72 was the first significant cut-back on horsepower so thats a negative. Three speed manual. In decent condition. I has been garage kept for the majority of its life and there is minimal rust but the overall condition is moderate to good. The jeep still has the original doors and a new top. It is in running condition and does not leak anything. The guy selling it is the second owner. No modifications except headers and glass-packs.

I have an idea of what I'm going to offer, but I wanted to know what you all thought it was worth/how much I should offer.

Thanks alot!

We don't do well without pic's. :(

I'm gona go out on a limb here and say $3500 and could easily go $1000 either way of that depending on cond. etc.

Give me the address of where that pristene original jeep is and I will go see it and , ahhhhhhh, tell you it's worth,
Sheesh Dude if it is a great as you say, go buy it NOW, there are hundreds of guys here online wanting to find a jeep like that.

Sheesh, I'm thinkin'... from what I've seen up HERE... that CJ (as described, predicated upon further discovery) should be marketable up HERE for closer to $5K. For REAL? 80K miles? Garaged? WOW!

"In decent condition. I has been garage kept for the majority of its life and there is minimal rust but the overall condition is moderate to good"

How do you read pristene original out of that?

I'd start at $1000 and work my way up to $5000 if it's as nice as you say.

minimal rust and moderate to good condition, does qualify as pristine when your talking about jeeps, considering that most jeeps and i'm guessing most jeeps that are owned my people on this website have had to be rebuilt or at least some major repair in order to get em on the road in driveable condition. i've never seen one that is factory original and in good condition , and has never had any type of refurbishing by anyone. i'm with olddog start real low and put a cap on how much you are willing to spend you might just get one hell of a deal on this jeep. and take cash when you make a offer even if its low, i've always been told that cash talks. good luck

I understand the reasoning behind the pristene discription and all but...
How many cars or whatever have you looked at for sale and the seller states something to the order of "like new" or "pristene" and when you see it in person, sometimes after traveling a great distance only to find out it's a "roach" or only "average" cond.
I always try to discribe something as accurate as possible and wish others would too.
Now if you read all that hogwash and still gota have it....go ahead nows the chance!

To bad you don't have pics. If it's ad nice as you describe, I hope you get it cheap. Good luck!:)

Don't worry about any HorsePressure cutbacks.
72 was the first year for the V8 in the CJ.
The stock AMC 304 is monster power compared to what came before.

You'll be FIIINE!!!
