I'm starting the process of rewiring my '73 CJ5 and realized that there is not a voltage regulator wired up. Is there any reason not to have one? My problem is that I've got a '73 body, '84 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , and god knows what other modifications the PO(s) have done over the past 38 years. BTW, the distributor is an DUI if that helps. Thanks!

It looks like I've got a one-wire alternator so that may answer my question...I think.

The voltage regulator is either in the alternator or should be wired to the altenator :chug:

Yes you have an enternal electronic voltage regulator :chug: makes things simpler

If it is a Delco type aleternator, then it is an internal regulator.

I got the thing to crank over for the first after a few months of being down so I'm pretty happy and confident everything is hooked-up properly.....for now.

:laugh: I am looking at cranking mine up this ssummer after it being silent for 6 years and a new harness and HEI conversion,......Good luck:notworthy::notworthy:
