What Cj would you rather see me sink some cash into? Id love to hear your opinions. Dont hold back. Criticise, kick my tires whatever. All I ask is when you do explain why. :)

Im welcome to all opinions , speak your mind. Granted either of my builds will be a little low brow entry level for most , but here are your 2 choices:

Or

Im very interested to see where this goes.

The poll lasts 14 days.

Thanx
Pete

well you asked for it so here goes.
If you want something to wheel & DD I'd go with the 7, wouldn't want to beat up the 8.
For a DD it would be the 8 all the way.
I voted bacon, you just can't beat bacon no matter where your at.:chug:

I voted for the 8 without any reservations.

Sorry but I don't want to offend others by saying sinking hard earned cash into a junkyard 7 is a waste....but the 8 is another storey

I nearly retracted those words..and maybe should have. :D

I guess my point is spending ?K to bring an old 7 back to life or maybe a similar amount spent on an already roadworthy 8 is not even a choice.

I never have been much with words.

Somehow I don't think your 7 ever fell into the "junkyard" catagory Old Dog.:notworthy:

Hmmm....maybe you do need to seek some help.

Sorry Pete for making a mess out of your poll, just do the 8.
I got to get some pics posted of the small tour outfit here that uses Scramblers for country wine tasting tours, they put benches on each side along with the rear seat and carry unsuspecting tourists wine tasting.
They paint them yellow and are in nice condition mostly.

Do what im doing. Restore the 8!

I voted Yugo...Sorry pete. gas is just getting way to damned expensive :(

Considering the sources of these 2 posts I am hardly suprised.

I dont mind things getting a bit offtrack. Im usually involved in those threads one way or another. :D Ive seen the tourist type Cj-8s a few times for sale on Ebay. Wouldnt mind seeing some more though. :chug:

Thats the way I was leaning , but Id have to drive it through the winter wich in a perfect world I didnt want to do.

I hear Ya. I believe I bumped the Scrambler up to a whopping 17 mpg if my memory is correct. The CJ7 was only 1 mpg better at 18. Luckily Im only 30 miles round trip for work. I like to daily drive a Cj so I know what Im looking at mpg wise anyway. That being said the freakin Yugo is in 2nd place vote wise.

:D

Since the Scrambler is in the lead I believe I just snagged a almost new clutch disc off Craigslist for $40. That insures me that if mine is oil soaked as I believe I have a replacement till I build up the auto. :)

Hey Pete, I'd finish up the 8, one of Jeep's finest. Now that the 5 is almost, maybe, possible, hopefully close to being done an 8 is in the future. That's if I can find one up north here that isn't "all" rust.

Dont think that I just glanced over this and laughed about your bacon vote either. Whatever happens vote wise the "loser" isnt going to be crushed or anything. :D I just cant throw money at both in this economy.

The "loser" just gets put outside for now but ends up benefiting cause itll be in the garage over the winter. Also the 8 will be wheeled , but lightly. Green / Mild blue trails with the ability to get me where we're camping and take me down to the river/lake for some rafting and such.

Your skill level is well beyond mine. I look at your build thread all the time and just do this >>>>>

If you really want to build a Scrambler thats relatively rust free I'll ship mine up there. Its not a one way ticket though. :D

If you end up getting serious about a Scrambler project though shoot me a pm. I have a few contacts that will help you . :chug:
