If it's not one thing, it's another...and this time it is the radio. Granted I knew it was just a mater of time, but now I have a question for you guys about speakers.
I'm sure most of you have water proof sound systems in your CJ and I know if I don't want to replace my system on a regular basis I should too. The stereo is no biggy, the speakers however I am having trouble with and as I am not a "sound system" person I have no idea what names to give the things I am looking for.

Basically I only have the two dash speakers in my CJ. And obviously since they mount behind there they need to be flat. Soooo, I guess I am asking who (if anyone) makes flat water proof/resistant speakers that will fit back there?

Marine speakers; boats have been using them for years. Check the internet.

I have been looking, but all I am finding are the some shaped ones you drop in a cut out. I wasn't sure if there was a specific term used for a flat fronted speaker that would mount flush.

Best Buy has a great selection on marine speakers that would work well...just looked at the website. most that I would fit in my '85 are around $70 for the pair. 6 1/2's 6's and there was one set of 5 1/4's.

the dash speakers are 4" round, good luck finding then in marine. I used good heavy 4" and put some "weed cloth" from the gardening dept in front of them to avoid straight on hosing.:D

Thanks! Great Idea on the weed cloth! I always have that laying around, never thought to use it. Thanks for the links too. Once I get them bought, the real fun begins....squeezing under the dash WOOHOO:laugh:

It really just takes 5 minutes to take out all the dash bolts. You don't need to remove it completely and you can get at things like switches and stuff.
