Anyone know how to get these screw posts off an old waterpump for install on new water pump?

I've soaked mine with penetrating oil for the past couple hours with no luck, plus I'm afraid that I may damage the threads.

Any info would be extremely helpful..

You can buy a stud removal tool -->> JEGS Performance Products 80510 JEGS Stud Removal Tool

or use a few jam nuts

WOW, That was simpler than I expected.

Thanks for the quick response, I have one out already and going to work on the other three now.

why nor use bolts ??

Another reason you cannot use bolts here is because there is no clearance between the spindle and the water pump.

First off, I'm glad you got this figured out.
Secondly, about the bolts. My 1980 has bolts that come from the fan side of the pump and screw into the water pump itself; where your pictures show the studs installed. I'm kinda confused on the studs as well, but they make all types I guess!

I think mine is this way because the OEM fan has the fan clutch assembly. It's kinda all one unit. There is no access for bolts to the water pump when the fan clutch is installed. Thus making a requirement for the studs on the water pump itself.

I've read about and did think of removing the fan clutch, but decided to just leave it all intact.
