I have an 82 CJ7 with the iron duke GM 151 . The PO put on a Weber carb & I have had flooding problems when ever it gets warm or going up an incline.
I have been told Webers can't take more than 4 PSI fuel pressure. I haven't checked my fuel pressure yet, but I believe it should be around 6-7 PSI stock.
Is this correct?
If so have any of you used a fuel pressure regulator with luck?
Or should I start looking for a factory carb.

Thanks for any info!!!:chug:

I used to have a Weber on my Jeep and yes, they do recommend using a fuel pressure regulator. I used a Holley regulator, set at 3psi.

The fuel pressure tester can also be used as a vac gauge. Very useful tool and not too expensive. Then you can know for sure!

Webbers are VERY particular on fuel pressure. Now I am not sure that is your problem, but if the pressure is not correct, it's not helping...

Yes standard fuel pressure regulator would help...

Thanks guys, my son-in-law has a friend with the fuel pressure guage. I'll check it out this weekend.
This bring up another Q. Do the $30.00 regulators from NAPA work well enough or is better to go with $120+ ones you see on the internet?

I've had good luck over the years, using the lower priced regulators for this type of application.

Thanks Les, I will go to NAPA & pick one up today.
I talked with an old school buddy last night about this since he put an iron duke in his 53 high hood & is getting 25+ mpg with 5:38's.
I will let you know how this works out for me.

I also put a Weber on my 'Duke". The others are correct. At anything over 3.5 psi, it runs very rich.

I dialed my regulator down to 1.5 to pass emissions and run it around 3.0 for regular driving.

That's some awesome mileage, if your friend is getting 25. I have worked to get my mileage up for quite awhile on my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , and now with my improvements, including the MC2150 carb, I'm up to just under 18, and very happy with it.

One thing you will probably want to watch for, is how rich your engine runs, once you have the Weber adjusted and the fuel pressure regulator on. In my experience, they tend to ship those carbs with overly large jets in them, and back when I had one, I had to re-jet it to get rid of my issues. Maybe it would have worked had I been driving down at sea level, but I'm only about 800ft above that here at home, and it was still super rich.

I had heard that Weber's are over jetted before.
Didn't get a chance to work on it this weekend, wife thinks I should work on her stuff first.
