what are the two little hoops on the hood for i see they are on all the hoods and are on mine but dont seam to have a purpose?

They are there for your windshield to rest on when its in the folded down postion. Then it gets strapped down to the larger one in the middle of the hood with the other end of the strap strapped to the one on the inside of the windshield.

I havent had my hoops on for years. It seems those window seals like to leak after you open the window a few times and then it is a short path to a rotted window frame.

correct name for them are fooiman loops, any jeep place worth it's salt can get you new ones, but like so many say, if you are not going lower the window, just pull them and plug the holes with a few spot welds. I agree about the seal of the window, seems it never seals good again after a few window drops.

I would rather have footman loops than holes or spot welds. It may make the gasket leak to drop the glass but you have to try it at least once.
I think I tried it when it was about 105 degrees, drove for about two blocks, like driving into a blast furnace.

Another thing to worry about is the hinges bending. If you haven't kept up on oiling them in that little hole on the top, I've seen many of them bend and then you'll never gt the window to seal right.

Used to zip up and down Daytona and New Symrna beach all day with the windshield folded. It really is more fun at the beach with the windshield down.

I have a 1 piece glass nose so i just never drilled the holes to put them on. if the holes were there Iwould have installed them to cover the holes up.

it only takes less than an afternnon to make all evidence of them disappear, prep,spot,grind,filler,sand, filler, sand,prep,prime,paint. Smooth as if they were never there.

heres a little tip i got from a long time jeep guy, if you put a little baby oil on the gasket every time you go to put the windshield back up it'll keep the gasket soft and seal up good it'll also keep it from sticking to the metal like mine did the first time i folded mine down

Darn good way to spoil a good deer from motor heat. Get rid of the carpet and toss that big buck in the back!
