I don't want to buy a new seat. I was thinking something like thos bestop seat covers but they seem sorta pricey. Some seat covers I have found, like the cool ones from G.E.A.R are like 250 and I mean for an extra 100 i could just get a whole new seat..... Is there any way to avoid dropping a whole bunch of $$$ into it?

Check eBay there are covers for less than $30 up to the prices you mentioned. Covers are the cheapest solution then recovering it or replacing it are the next steps. You can get some reasonable seats on CraigsList too.

Check local shops, do it yourself recover kits and ebay.
Price gets cheaper as you go left to right.

Duct tape!!
every one was thinking it.

If you want the "Possum lodge " look use the silver stuff but I like the new Go rilla black stuff, I think you could retread a tire with that stuff.:D
I got nothing on this, Are you sure you need a back seat?

I would check with a couple Local upholsterers. you may not get the best fabric, marine fabric is pretty expensive. but you will get a decent job of it.

I agree with the local upholsterers. I was talking with the one that sewed up my soft top, and he said he would reupholster my seats for 100.00 each. I didn't think that was to bad. But I don't what these done. I want to get some CJ seats first. The PO put something else in mine and I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for different seats. I really haven't been looking real hard for seats. That'll come one of these days.

Nitor will you talk to you upholsterer and ask him if he thinks he could replace the straps that hold my bikini top to the roll bar? I bought it from somoene on craigslist who shipped it to me so I never inspected it in person. The strapes wrap around the roll bar to hold it in place instead of the way the traditional works. The problem is the strap fabric has dryed out and everytime I try to tighten ityou can hear them starting to give, they don't have much life left to live. If he can do if for something reasonably less than a new bikini top maybe i can mail it to you and you can take it to him.... The upholsterer here is a crook and charges unreasonable prices:(

I don't see a problem with that. Can you send pictures? Does it attach with Velcro or something like that? I've only used traditional bikini tops. I'll show him the pictures and give you feedback.

I will snap close ups tomorrow

Nitor here are some pics of one of the straps on my "strapless bikini top":confused::confused::confused: not so strapless. There are two straps that sinch to the plastic piece (one on each side) in the pic. Since it doesn't tie down in the wee back like the original cj one and only straps to the overhead roll bar you have to get it super tight other wise it will slap you in the head goin down the road and eventually pull out of the channel. I can't sinch em tight because the fabric is dried out and stretches/cracks the more I tightem them. Can you ask your upholsterer if he thinks he can replace these and still have the top still be functional, Thanks in advance.

ThisGuyUKnow - I'm not sure what you want replaced, is this the part that will need to be replaced or reinforced? Do you want it cut off and replaced or something put over it to reinforce it? Or do you want the nylon straps replaced? I want to understand what you want before I go to the upholstery guy. - Nitor

Sure Old Dog. Here's his website. His name is Bob Dane. He's in Morrow.

Upholstery For Doctor Dentist

He doesn't have much of a website, but he does good work. I would recommend him to anyone.

He recently put new windows in my soft top doors and fixed some of the zippers on my top.

I didn't know he worked on doctors stuff until now. I've never seen anything like that in his shop.

Sorry Nitor. The black strap that you have drawn the square around is the problem. THe fabric is starting to get too warn out and when you tighten them around the roll bar they just stretch and start to crack so I can get the dang thing tight. I was wondering if he could replace the black straps in the pic.
