i like the cjs so much better the new ones just dont have the jeepish look to me idk bout you guys but theyre okay

If i had the money i would buy out Chrysler or Fiat whatever its called now and bring AMC back from the Ashes and make the Jeep cj a thing of the present not the past every cj would come back with the ssame original styling and all the different models i love CJ JEEPS i hope all of u guys agree!!!:chug:

actually i like the new JKs and stuff but i would have a hard time using them like a jeep. and all the liberties and stuff like that are nice vehicles but, i dont look at them as a jeep, i look at them as a luxury car. all the vehicles now are leaning towards economic road luxury vehicles made as cheap as possible haha but they can never take our CJs away :chug:

i could understand having a new jeep but i would still have an ole JEEP to do my jeeping in.

my '99 is bad enough with all the sensors and :censored:

my 77 CJ7 will run circles around my 99

New Jeeps are great, there fuel injected, coil springs, more powerful...

But I would never buy one, there just not "real" jeeps, in my opinion, jeeps died when the flat dash died.
They went from being farm/military/industrial/ TRUCKS, to being family haulers.

Not to say Yj Tj Jk aren't all great trucks, in many ways TJs/JKs are probably better, even off road, but the feel just isn't the same, they just aint my thing.

Jeep are tough little all-terrain vehicles not family haulers like u said look at the history of the CJ2a 3/4 of the pics have it workin on a farm

I wouldn't mind seeing alot of the older jeeps and cars come back.
My wifes '06 Rubicon Unlimited is an awsome jeep but all the interior
plastic :dung:, squeaks and rattles, I miss the metal.

I'd like to get a YJ, swap the dash and grill and stick the axles, motor, Transfer Case and Transmission from the wifes rig under it with leaf springs. It would confuse the hell out of people and would be a fun rig.

I wanted a rubicon on leafs, don't ask why I just like it that way, LOL.

I think I have the same opinion as kickitandholdit does. I don't think of anything else that has a "Jeep" name on it as a Jeep. Sure the JK is a Jeep, but the rest are a AWD car with a Jeep emblem on it. When Chrysler bought AMC (I'm glad they did, to keep the Jeep name going), they stopped making "Jeeps". The YJ is the closest thing to a Jeep Chrysler ever made.

The new jeeps tj's and jk's will out wheel a cj and are a lot more road friendly. That being said I still love my cj.

They will out wheel a CJ Old Dog, but they just don't look as good doing it.

 I hear ya, thats why I have a cj.:chug:

I agree. I love the flat dash, the metal, the simplicity of the vehicle, and the overall lineage attached to a CJ. I will never get rid of my CJ (unless it is for another CJ). I have owned YJs before, loved them, but it felt like I and everyone else was always comparing thme to CJs. Now with that all being said, the Household Commander says she wants a jeep and has of course chosen the JK. They are very nice, comfortable, and practical. Plus, there are plenty of aftermarket parts so she can wheel it someday when it gets paid off. Thats why we are looking into JKs, but the stipulation was so long as I can keep my CJ and she doesn't try and drive it anymore.

I am a build it and not bought kind of jeeper so my CJ5 suits
me and describes my personality. If I want striaght up performance with out alot of effort then a jk would be the way to go, but then how would I legally drop my mighty small block in there?

The new JKs are the best jeeps ever made. Coil springs at all corners. They can take bigger tires without modifications. Factory selectable lockers front and rear. Dana 44 axles front and rear (although the housing isn't as strong as older Dana 44s). Transfer cases with 4 to 1 low. Sure they have more luxury than I need (or would like to see in a jeep) but these things are more capable off-roaders than any other jeep. I hate to admit it but it's true.
On the other hand I prefer my jeeps simple. I would rather buy an old CJ and build it into a great off-roader than pay $25000 for a new JK. And once I would buy a JK I would be afraid to take it the places I take my CJ.

welllllllllll I do not think that the CJ platform could handle all the modern safety stuff on a JK, nor could it eqsily be modified to do so.
The new stuff has evolved and that also keeps the classic looking so good

I own an 08 unlimited rubicon jk. Axles are both peices of junk and have had them replaced under warranty. Bending them and such is way to easy, the metal is of thinner gauge than older jeeps and body damage is easy. The things are huge and wide and have a lousy turn radius. But they are comfortable, have a quiet interior for a jeep, great AC and sirius radio. Haul a lot and tow my trailer when we go camping. I think though the TJ is a much better wheeling platform over all as it is a tougher jeep, turns tighter and such. I think they put to much creature comfort into the JK and left out some prowness.
but that is just an opinion and those are like A Holes.

It just kills me that they went ahead and put a smaller engine in a larger Jeep? I know its not that much smaller, but why steer away from a time tested phenomenal engine like the 4.0? But I suppose that is why the engineers got paid the money they did to redesign the Wrangler. It will be interesting to see which direction Fiat takes Jeep now. I just think its ironic that the vehicle that was built to originally be used to fight the Germans and the Italians, is now owned by the Italians. Just ironic to me.

That's the reason my wife wanted a LJ, the 06 Rubicon Unlimited is awsome, with the 4" lift and 33's it's a blast to drive, I actually like it better than (gasp) my CJ but I like the looks and like the simplicity so the next one I buy will again be a CJ hopefully an 8.

Been considering a ground up build with a new frame, body, etc.
Money will tell........

I saw a new Wrangler up in the hills this weekend.
Clean, pretty, hardtop on, windows up, a/c crankin.

Then there's me,& my CJ. Rusty, dirty, top down, no workin stereo, dirt in my teeth, eyes, ears, bumble bees bouncing around, wet dawg in the back that's scared of bees.

So, who was Jeepin?

After finishing the CJ6 build, which is in limbo till I get a job, I will look for a LJ Rubicon street queen, I will lift it 3 inches and tummy tuck it, armor up and put on 33s, I think that is the ultimate Jeep, I however will never trade off either of my CJs unless I HAVE to. I live the things, and love the simplicity of them, plus they are just to much fun pulling up at an event and getting more attention paid to my POS than most show Jeeps get.
