what do all you jeepers think about the new jeeps out??

what do all you jeepers think about the new jeeps out??
Unfortunately I had to sell my CJ to get a truck, owning a home I had to have a truck, plus it gave me an excuse to pick up a quad also, LOL.

I think the new Jeeps are nice and can be made nicer. But I want what I couldn't have in high school! You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Wrangler and that's fine...but I want something different. And no Wrangler I've seen sounds as good as my AMC 304 with headers and sidepipes:D I love my CJ and appreciate all those still on the road. So what I got no power steering or power brakes or A/C? Isn't that what a Jeep is supposed to be?

Thanks to all those with the fortitude to keep these classics around!

Well, I have my CJ, but it does have power steering and power brakes. I can't imagine having a CJ with A/C. I know they're out there, but I also know that my A/C comes on full when I remove the top.

I have worked for numerous chrysler dealerships in the past 7 years as a mechanic and i have seen the jeep evolve and granted i own a 97 cherokee that is the last of the ok jeeps i mostly got it for the wife since she likes jeeps too. but as far as im concerned the only thing on a new jeep that is jeep is the jeep emblem. all the new jeeps are junk, with all their numerous recalls tsb's computer problems, drivetrains not meant for real off road, more plastic than metal. it is sad when you work in a shop and you see more new cars come in with problems and no old ones cause atleast the old ones were built with quallity in mind not quantity. Sorry if i offended anyone on here, this is just my opinion but i will stick with my 78 CJ5 that i can fix with hand tools and not have too plug into a two thousand dollar computer, pay a 94 dollar and up diagnosis fee and then pay the mechanic 30 dollars an hour labor not counting parts just because they dont want to build it right the first time.:censored:

We sold the JK Unlimited Rubicon last week
I brought it in for another stupid noise and it needed another repair, axle problem again.
I had not wheeled it in 6 months, all we had done even near to wheeling in the last 6 months was pull a trailer up to the woods and camp for 3 days, thing never went into 4x4.
After the last few trips wheeling, we have just taken a CJ out wheeling. SO in 3 years of ownership it had been wheeled about 10 times.
I am glad it is gone
Axles suck
needs serious skid plates to protect stuff in really stupid places
without body armor it has some thin sheet metal and I always was afraid of bending it
it was wide, and places I normally slide through I had to watch
it turned like a cruise ship
I really did not like it, But the wife loved it, on road. It was huge comfy and had a killer ac, serius radio.
So there goes
I think after the TJ, Jeep started going down hill to make a jeep that they could sell in mass to the public and have a sales success. Just look at the number of 4 door wranglers on The road, I can not pull into a parking lot without one being in it.
So they have their success story, and sell a lot of the 2wd versions now.
Oh well, I will stick with my CJs I guess

To me, if it doesn't rattle, clank, occasionally fall apart for no good reason, and take some skill to drive, it's not a Jeep. I LOVE C.J.'S. Whats needed to fix it? Most times a Leatherman, duct tape, bailing wire, some spit and a booger.

Nuff' said.

Bush.

Jeep went the same as Harley Davidson.
They mass produce a product for the mass's instead of the people who have kept them in business.

Why do they all forget their roots? Everything seems to get bigger and more useless. Even the japs are making the things way bigger. Remember those cute little toyota trucks?
I'll take a CJ2a any day.
