Thanks fellas.

EGR is exhaust gas recirculation. It introduces a specific amount of CO (carbon monoxide) into the intake manifold. as it turns out, this improves fuel efficiency, reduces emmisions and smooths the idle. As the idle goes I won't say it smooths the idle but if you don't have a working EGR it won't idle as smoothly.

PCV Positive Crankcase ventilation valve. Allows cylinder blow by and oil vapor to be drawn from the bottom end of the engine. I think the valve is to regulate the amount of vacuum used. with out the valve it would be a large leak.

Thanks fellas.

The PCV valve is only a check valve. It's only really there to keep air flowing in one direction. That is, from the crank case to the carburetor.
