What gears could I have?

on the Dana 44 rear axle there should be a tag that is between two cover bolts. the last three numbers on the bottom line are your ratio numbers.

turn the wheel , you should be able to see if the wheel turns once for every 3 3/4 turns or 4 1/4 turns. doyou have one piece axles? or tapered two piece axlesin the Dana 44 ??

Dana 44 will not have tapered 2 piece axles...

If I were you I would pull the covers off and count teeth. Thats the only sure way of knowing.
The jeep will thank you for the new diff. oil.

It's always a good idea to look at the oil from time to time and be sure you are not making a "milkshake "in the rear axle. Of course that goes for both axles , tranny and TC too.:D

You don't really have to actually count the teeth - the ring gear will have the number of teeth stamped on it for both the ring and the pinion.

Example - 4111 = a 3.73 ratio (41 / 11 = 3.73)
