What is this and what does it do? Just to the left of the grommet. It is mounted on the firewall and has 2 brown wires coming out of it. 77 CJ5 with V8.

Where do the wires go?
It's not OEM.

The only brown wires I could find under the hood on the wiring diagram go the AC system. I was using the 1977 OEM Tech manual but I didn't think a 77 CJ5 ever came with AC.

I don't think the grommet belongs there either.:D

They went through the grommet in the firewall and were not connected to anything under the dash. This Jeep had a 70's aftermarket cruise control and some kind of intermittent wiper system and all the wires were routed through the hole in the firewall. Since it's not OE, I'll remove it.

Thanks for the feedback.

motion senser for alarm system

That is a mercury switch for a Dana cruise control. It deactivates the C.C when going down a very steep hill on the highway. The sensitivity of the switch is determined by the angle at which it is mounted.

Yes, it had aftermarket CC.
