What is this?

1986 CJ7 T-5 Transmission Dana 20 , can someone tell me what this hose is coming out of the fire wall was used for? Its the 2" in hose that turns and stops under the battery box and is capped off.

I'm pretty sure it comes from the heater.

I would think heater as well. Can't see inside under my dash because of AC unit. Also, the hose on mine is not capped off but has a flap exhaust type set up.

It is attached to the fresh air intake of the heater box. It is a drain for the water that gets into the cowl vent.

It is not capped at the end, it opens up to let water out.

If you don't have a screen covering the cowl intake, it is a good idea to check occasionally to make sure it isn't clogged with leaves.

Don't loose the end, they are near impossible to replace.
