It's always fun to see the looks on the faces of left wingers when you point out that the Constitution was written to protect us FROM the government, and that includes the Second Amendment. They really can't wrap their heads around the idea that it's possible, however unlikely, that the people might have to rise up and overthrow a wanna be dictator in our own country some day.

They seem to think that guns in the hands of private citizens should only be for hunting, and the vegetarian types among them think even hunters are barbarians.

Come to think of it, I have yet to hear a logical response from any gun control advocate when asked the question of why they think it is, that every other amendment to the Bill of Rights was written to protect us from the government except the 2nd?

The whole purpose of the Constitution is to protect citizens from a runaway government taking our freedom away. "A well regulated militia" does not mean the government's military and "The People" doesn't mean soldiers and cops. It's intellectually dishonest for lefties to claim the 2nd amendment means what they say it does. Their arguments against citizens owning guns would carry a lot more weight if they would just abandon thier intentional misinterpretations of the 2nd amendment, and instead just admit that they disagree with the founding fathers and that they want to change the Constitution.
