Hey, I'm trying to deal with the rear brakes on my project. According to the manual, you need to attach a set of "wheel cylinder clamps" prior to disassembling the rear brake shoes. It's been a long time since I've seen anyone do rear brakes, but I don't remember any sort of clamps to hold back the cylinder...

Are clamps really needed? Is there something I can use as a substitute??

plastic zip ties,,,, wire --just to keep thewheel cyl caps from falling out, allowing air to get in the lines.

Never heard of such a thing.
Why would you need anything, as long as no one hits the brakes your good. There not going anywhere.

Cheap why do you bleed them after a brake job. Where would air get in?

i don't know but i always bleed em just to make sure, i guess it makes me feel better knowing imma stop for sure. on disc brakes i open the bleeder screw to be able to push the piston back in, i bleed it after that. on drums i do it just to be sure
