Where to mount Renix computer

I have a question. I put a 90 renix from an xj successfully in my CJ5 and it runs great. However, the computer in the xj was mounted under the dash and away from moisture and so was not a hermetically sealed unit. I mounted it above the engine at the firewall which works fine for now.

I am concerned about moisture and heat. My choices are to put the harness through the firewall (drill a big hole) and put it in the cab or to put it in some type of sealed box. I live in Syracuse so we get a lot of rain and snow.

Anyone else here use this vintage setup? Where did you put the box?

Under the dash and over the glove box is the safest place for it if there's room for it but beware. If your cowl seal leaks the water will get to the computer there too.

F.Y.I. on the later CJs That nice big glove box that you have was changed to a smaller one and the computer went behind it. The heater takes up a lot of under dash space so finding another spot can be hard to find.

Yeah I fixed the cowl seal. I thought about around the glove box area. Biggest trouble is with hole I have to create and then seal as well. :-/

The one in my CJ7 is behind the dash. I read someplace you can seal them somehow, not sure though

I have the Howell conversion on my Jeep. Ran the harness though the fire wall and took Velcro strips and mounted the computer to the front side of the heater box, just below the glove box.
