now both of mine are very stout, i rearended a car and pancaked the trunk and didnt even scratch the bumper, and the rear one is just freshly built but its 1/4" thick tubing so it should be strong.

mine came with these home made 4"? pipe bumpers they are heavy and indestructible however I also like the open tire look and was considering shortening this front bumper to expose the tire, however I think I will also go with the short rectangle bumper on the front of mine, I feel that mine has to be asthethically pleasing as well as functional

I think you should go with choice 3, build a new one.
But until then it is quite easy to decide.

Boys, if you were in my hood I would have you bring a six pack and I would both well on your way to being welders / burners before it was gone.
The down side to this would be having you guys hanging around my shop trying to convince me that you needed , desperately, to use my machine.
But not having me in your hood I would suggest you check out the local Jr. collages for adult ed classes, give you a look at a lot of different processes, see what is best for you. You can get into it for as little as $100 if you look for estate sale stuff. Please believe me when I say this will be a giant step forward for you, being able to build stuff out of steel will open up a whole new world.
I just had an electrical implant installed in my chest to regulate the heart beat, The Dr. told me there was a possibility that I would never be able to arc weld again, it took several days of hard deliberation to decide if it was worth that possibility. It has worked out OK and although I am slightly restricted to the size rods I can burn, 1/8 inch is about the max, not a problem. not being able to work with metal would have put a major void in my life.

I think it is important that we remember one of the larger reasons we own CJ's.
CJ's give up an excuse to to buy all those other toys we need to work on them.
