So its been a while since i have asked a question! im curious which carb do you all think is the best for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l inline six?

-Mc2100

-Any Weber

-Carter

any others that i know i missed ha :)

because what ive heard is no one usually has troubles with their Mc2100s,but then carter and webers sound like there is one problem after the other, so what carb would be the best and what would i have to buy or get to run it on my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l inline six?

I can see longhorn and IO putting there advice in this real quick but always appreciate it from everyone guys! Thanks as always!

i put my motorcfaft on in the middle of summer and love it. solved all the problems i was having with the carter.

I'd go fuel injection and not worry about carbs. It would have to be better where you live.:chug:

I'm with Dog, I think the chevy TBI shows a lot of promise.

Here is a question that is relevant to us both and this thread.
As we know the cam that came with the one barrel is different than the cam for the two barrel carburetor. The question would be what is the difference?? logic may suggest that the smaller carb would require a longer duration and/or more lift. And then again I may not have a clue what I am talking about. The smart money is on the later.
Any thoughts??
Oh yea, Corey have you got that beast running, at all??

Not yet IO i am currently filing unemployment for 4 months and i get about 155 every week, so i have to save some of that to buy a christmas present for my fiancee, pay my truck, put gas is the POS, and pay my dad for insurance and my cell phone. I guess i could do that minor work needed for it to run.

I have to drop the gas tank, get ride of the gas, blow the fuel lines out, rebuild the carb, put some stuff in the gas tank to get the rust out, if there is any then it should run, if not then i have to find whats wrong but im sure its the carb, it fouled all 6 plugs oh ya gotta clean those up to :p so i probably wont have it going till around christmas sometime i hope. Hunting really kills my money lol

I think Brock still has everything you need for sale in our clasified.
Maybe you can trade him some elk meat

Since you asked for carbs my vote is with the Mc2100. I got a Weber I'll sell you. :D On my wheeler project Im not gonna fool around with carbs anymore. Like mentioned above F.I. is the way Im going.

Heres a good some good tech info for a Junkyard built t.bi. swap. The guy that wrote it (Kevin) is in our local jeep club. Hes got a nice Cj that works very well. Im thinking he might have it up for sale in fact.
