Eevery since "the Fall Guy" I've wanted a jeep, but I don't know enough to choose one that'll keep me out of my garage and cruising. What should I steer clear of, and which models are more desirable?

The Fall Guy!!!!! YEAH THAT SHOW KICKED @$$!!!! I don't remember a jeep in the show. I remember the pickup. Anyway, any jeep you buy will keep you in the garage. That is half the fun.:) If you are looking at CJ's, you can buy one cheep that needs a lot of work or spend more money and buy one someone else has done all the work to. Buying one cheep won't save you much money, as you will put the money you saved back in to it to fix it up. It most likely will cost more to buy one cheep because you never get the money you put into them back out of them. But, if you are mechanically inclined, you can do the work yourself and know it is done right. What jeep you should buy depends on your plans. What are your plans for it. Use,budget, etc.

my jeep was the best price. free:eek: its a CJ5 . i like it and my wife learned how to drive in it when she was younger. if i bought one i would get any CJ7 . more leg room, more parts for cheap on craigs list and ebay. my wife laughs at me causes im always going CJ7 CJ7 CJ7 CJ7 when i look at these sites. its mainly stuff like soft tops and doors. besides that and wheel base there basicly the same.

my jeep history:
'47 CJ2a
'55 CJ5
3 different willys pickups
'66 (or was it a '68??) CJ5
'83 CJ7
'74 CJ5

out of all the SWB rigs, the CJ7 was a monster compared to the rest. I really didn't like driving it as well as the others. Harder to see over the hood when wheeling, (on 33's with stock suspension) than my current ride (on 35's with 6" lift).
So don't think that the CJ7 is better, just different.
