which is best tyres for cj jeeps

probably any good All-Terrain would serve you well.

I'd agree, stay away from the purpose built 'Mud' tires. Probably to aggressive of a tread.

guess it would depend on what kind of "mountains" you will be driving through....for example i live in north idaho and we get alot of "mud holes" and trees across the road excetra....i had bfg mt's and they were ok but in muck mud holes they got clogged up and i would have issues....i dont drive on pavement with it much so i put super swamper tsl bias ply tires (33X15.5 15) and have nor more mud problems and can walk over rocks and trees with no worries about loosing a tire...but then again i dont do much pavement driving....pavement will eat swampers away fast..hope this helps

Has anyone ever used BFG AT's in heavy sand? I have thornbirds now but mainly do beach wheelin' these days with a lot of on road driving so I can't decide if I need the MT's or not. Do the MT's wear faster than the AT's?

In my experience they wear a little faster, but not much on a light rig like a Jeep CJ. I ran 35" BFG MT's for years on a F-350 FORD 50-55,000 miles per set. I lot more miles than my 38" TSL radials.

For sand these have always been my favorite:
