Which Model Jeep?

I always wanted a CJ7 , but since it took me until I was 56, the CJ-7 isn't a good fit. Momma & I have a hard time getting in & out. I don't want/ can't afford new one as Momma wants a new SUV, (Armada), to pull our boat. We will do some trail riding, but no rock crawling. What years/models do you folks suggest? I'm not dead set on getting rid of the CJ-7, but would like some options. I'll tolerate the discomfort, but momma won't for long.

Well, um... First and foremost... The reason your a little tight in that CJ7 is that its a CJ5 ! They are a bit shorter then a 7 and as such your feeling the pinch...

There is a lot you can do to make that '5' easier to get in and out of but it takes time and money...

Speaking of $$$, what would be your limit on spending?

Get a jeep commando, bigger, V-8, easy to work on, kinda rare, look awsome.
There's one near me for sale if I didn't have my CJ5 i'd be all over it.

Yup, that's for sure a CJ5 you got there. Have you considdered trading over to a CJ7 ? It's 10" longer, and easier to get into and out of, and on the stock suspension, will give a pretty good ride as well. If you want to go new, hit the dealer and fit one to your needs.

Yes, I'm going to look @ a CJ7 . I'll have to redo the brake system, then try to figure out what she's worth. Momma is getting kind of attached to her. She purchased a set of nerf bars off EBay.
CJ, I don't really have a spending limit, but MOMMA does! She just won't tell me how much it is.

A fully restored CJ5 is worth about $200. I will give you $300 to be nice. But the gas tank needs to be full. Seriously, I always get a good indicator by going on ebay and doing an advanced search for completed listings. This lets you know what they actually sold for. Gives a good starting point for your price range.

That sounds like any CJ5 I know. If it is in good shape and depending on whats under the hood it could bee worth a little bit of money.
