Who Named Their Jeep?

Who Named Their Jeep?
No name for mine except the %!$@&# kind once in a while. No, just sporting the "Chuck Norris Approved" badge.

Little Grey Mule. It was originally silver but with sun & fun it really looks grey now

My last CJ5 was "Bessie", the blue mule. No race horse, just reliable and always got me there. And blue

My 85 is “Corndog”.

I name kids, dogs, cats, horses and boats. Never a Jeep.

I have settled on "CPT Underpants", it was the name of my Bradley in Iraq and I kind of like it

I have tried to name my CJ, but honestly it doesn't work for me. There is a guy on another forum that named his Willys Pickup "Floyd" … Floyd this ….. Floyd that ….Floyd did this other …… He's a decent enough guy but every time he mentions "Floyd" I'm turned off. Why exactly, I don't know.

Floyd from Andy Griffith show maybe ?

This is something we’ve always done, at least since we’ve had kids. It’s kind of like naming pets. Sometimes the name comes easily and others seem to take a while because you need to learn the pet’s, or vehicle’s disposition. We had an XJ I named “Squirmy.” That one was easy. I almost wrecked it twice on the drive home because the front suspension was so bad I could barely hold it in the road! So it was tagged with it’s name immediately. We have a 1978 CJ5 with a warmed up AMC 304 . It was converted from the factory 3 speed to an NP435. Tons of fun! It’s name is “Rowdy.” It gets attention no matter where we go! It looks, sounds and runs......well, rowdy! I bought my youngest daughter her first Jeep this past Thursday. It’s an ‘04 TJ. I had no input in the naming of this one, but she gave it an appropriate name. The TJ’s name is “Daisy.” I did wrongly assume she had named it after Daisy Duke, since she too had a Jeep. When I said that’s cool, you named it after Daisy Duke. She looked at me and said, “dad, it’s yellow.”

I know to some folks naming a vehicle seems ridiculous. My thinking has always been when the vehicle is given a name, a “connection” is created. With that connection comes a greater likelihood that care will be taken in maintaining the vehicle both inside and out. Another added benefit is the “trade light” doesn’t seem to come on near as often!

I've noticed the ones that ended up named were the ones that I've hated to let go.

My CJ8 came with a name. I bought it off of a Native American man who told me he always called it "The War Pony". I got a kick out of that and decided to keep the name.
