I personally love the Cherokees when I need something to cruise around town. Keep in mind that I install killer stereos in my "cruising" vehicles. I love the Cherokees for the amount of space and the ability to haul everyone around town with me. Who else prefers the Jeep Cherokee?

I've been considering getting one to replace the retired Beach Pig I sold a couple years ago (1988 3/4 4x4 Suburban...rust was eating it alive). The Cherokee looks likes the best option as far as a beach rig goes (Limited use and the ability to carry the kids, the surfboards, the fishing poles and ice chest).:)

I actually love the GC. I bought what I thought was the last good looking year made before the boxy change. An 04 freedom edition with a 4.7 HO, and chipped out. Goes like a demon, and is pretty damn good off road when it goes camping with us.

I test drove a Cherokee a few years back. And I test drove a Durango...

Bought the Durango. I dont like the back doors on the cherokee. And I felt the Durango had more room. The Cherokee had a few things that the Durango didnt. BUT, I was about to have a Bubba in a car seat at the time, and I needed space. And to be able to get into the back seat (I was very pregnant and not small.)

Gotta love my (wife's) Durango

Seating for 7
factory 5.9L
Leather interior and all that :dung:
room for a queen airbed in the back for camping at the races
And more tow capacity than the Dakota truck

as for the Cherokee, Never had one...probably never will. so I can't say.

Love our '00 GC but wish I could get one of the early '90s 2 doors we have at work. We have sent a bunch to auction lately and most were still in awesome shape. Better throttle response and less weight.

I have had two cj5s then i needed a more family friendly jeep i am now building my 4th XJ the wife drives a 2000 XJ and i have my 5.9 Limited Grand Cherokee for summer i have found with the exception of very tight trails the XJ will wheel as good if not better than my old CJs don't get me wrong i still love the Wranglers in fact the wifes next ride will be a JK. but for bang for the buck the XJ is the way to go.

I looked at the Durango's and hated them. They LOOK great, I loved the style, but I felt like a little kid sitting in it. the seat is too low, or the doors too high or something, but I just couldn't, stand the seating position. Tried the GC and fell in love instantly. Plus, that baby RAGES when you stomp the skinny pedal!:notworthy: AND does a pretty respectable job off road.

I love my XJ. I bought it brand new in '01. Until I got the Golden Eagle a few years back it was my daily driver, offroad toy, grocery getter, road trip vehicle, you name it. Now, it's just the DD.

I had a 88 lifted on 33s with 4.56s and the whole exterior herculined Red.Not only would it fair well off-road , we'd use it as a DD and take it on vacation to Virginia Beach 2 years in a row. I ended up selling it cheap cause I needed the room for a QuadraTrac Cj. In all honesty I shouldve kept the Xj , but that was alot to do with the condition of the Cj.

I love and hate my '04 GC Overland. 4.7 HO has plenty of power for towing, it's comfortable, handles great with adjustable shocks and Addco sway bars, but I've had blend door problems (very expensive), a power steering pump go out 3 times caused by the plastic (yes plastic pully) either cracking or getting a chip resulting in it destroying the pump. Except for those 2 problems it's a nice ride

I've never owned a GC, but I've driven one a little. They're pretty good for cruising around, as people have said. I'd consider buying one in the future.

I never owned a Cherokee, but borrowed one from a friend for a couple of weeks a few years back. I liked it, it drove fine, and was comfortable.
I also drove a Cherokee, and a Grand Cherokee at a Jeep 101 Event in Phoenix , Arizona a few years back. You got to drive a course that had a banked road, over some rough terrain, ( a lot of rocks they placed on the course.) then finally over a pit that had logs placed for you to drive over. It was a lot of fun.

i do i do:xj: i'v had 4 myself an loved em all i have the 01 last year they were made 3-4 lift 31in mud tires lots of trimin an she gets down quite well. i like the look of have a toy jeep as a daily driver. if you plan on goin big i would just get a CJ/TJ/YJ to do it right from the start it dont get any better that that.I'll say long live the cherokee :xj:

No flexin, just fishin campin and daily drivin.:)
